Dr. Visa Penttilä (LUT) - NGO-directed CPA – A Case Study of an Advocacy Coalition for Human Rights Regulation
Dr. Visa Penttilä (LUT University) will present “NGO-directed CPA – A Case Study of an Advocacy Coalition for Human Rights Regulation” in the Research Seminar on Organizational Communication at the Department of Management Studies.
Dr. Penttilä is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Social Sciences at LUT University. His research examines communication on responsibility and sustainability within and between organizations and in the media, with a particular interest in political influence in relation to responsibility.
His presentation explores how advocacy coalitions between NGOs and businesses can harness corporate political action to influence human rights regulation. Drawing on a Finnish case study, he examines how relationships within coalitions shape collaboration, how shared policy beliefs motivate engagement, and how corporate influence can be directed by external actors, offering new insights into the dynamics of corporate political action.
