Dean's summer letter 2023
Before we all start our summer holidays I would like to reflect on the beginning of the year and recall some highlights.

The vice president is appointed for a five-year term
Summer party for newcomers and buddies was all about sharing onboarding experiences and solving escape rooms challenges
An Aalto 'buddy' is a new employee’s colleague who supports them settling inÄûÃʵ¼º½. The first-ever summer party for newcomers and buddies took place on June 6 at the Trap Factory. All the newcomers of 2022 and their buddies were invited, and around 50 attended the event.

National Researcher's Profile Tool launched
Researchers can create a nationally visible profile in Research.fi portal. Profile is compiled with information transferred from organisations and ORCID service and information already transferred to Research.fi. Released in November 2022 as a beta version, the Researcher's Profile Tool was officially launched on 25 May 2023.

The Academy of Finland has granted Aalto University funding for 15 Academy Research Fellowships
Nearly 20 million euros for research
A total of 45 researchers received Academy Research Fellow and Academy Project funding from the Academy of Finland
Kari Tammi and Jussi Ryynänen appointed deans
Professor Kari Tammi will start as Dean of the School of Engineering on 1 July and Professor Jussi Ryynänen will become Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering on 1 August

Aalto University's interdisciplinary course "Crystal Flowers in Mirror Rooms: Mathematics meets Art and Architecture" culminates in the exhibition Kurotuksia - Higher Powers, which opens today at Heureka, the Finnish Science Centre. It celebrates a decade of promoting interdisciplinary interaction in the course and is the second time the course has an exhibition at Heureka.
