Audio Dubbado: Retuperän WBK represents firefighter-like dignity and good manners

'After I had played in the fire brigade for a few years, I thought that maybe it would be good to have some excuse to spend so much time in Otakaari. I decided it was time to apply to study at Aalto.'

Avatars and genuine interaction

Aalto University’s researchers are contributing to the creation of redesigned maternity and child health clinics and positive childbirth experiences in their research projects. The visions seize the potential of technology, such as childbirth simulation in a 3D-video conference using an avatar, a virtual character. On the other hand, the researchers would also like to hold on to the best practices from the past, such as the traditional child health clinic card, genuine human interaction and the rotina tradition, visits by family and close-ones to meet the newborn and bring foods as a gift.

Season’s greetings 2022 from FCAI

The artificial intelligence and machine learning landscape is thriving, and after nearly three years of the pandemic, we are looking to the new year with big plans. Our field has a growing role to play, not just in contributing excellent science, but in boosting the economy, attracting talent to Europe and Finland and fostering trust and centering people in the development of new and disruptive technology. Generative art, deepfakes and sentience of large language models are in the news daily—our work is consequential and valuable as a counterweight, but we can do more to advocate and be more visible.
