An atomic-scale window into superconductivity paves the way for new quantum materials
Researchers have demonstrated a new technique to measure the quantum excitations in superconducting materials with atomic precision for the first time. Detecting these excitations is an important step towards understand exotic superconductors, which could help us improve quantum computers and perhaps even pave the way towards room-temperature superconductors.

In the United States, for example, citizens from ethnic minorities pay more for their mortgages than others, even if there are no differences in creditworthiness. Furthermore, minority members’ loan applications are rejected more often – even when the decision is made by an algorithm. According to the researcher in charge of the new project, corresponding discrimination would, in the Finnish setting, cause economic inequality with long-term impacts

It can be seen as the “Aalto way of collecting feedback”, where the process gives a direction while it still leaves leeway for teacher´s own approach and practices.
