Tuomas Auvinen to continue as Dean of the School of Arts, Design and Architecture

Tuomas Auvinen, Doctor of Philosophy, has been appointed Dean of the School of Arts, Design and Architecture at Aalto University for a five-year term starting from the 11th of March 2024.
Auvinen has been Dean of the School since 2019. During his tenure, the School has developed significantly in many respects, including an increase in external funding leading to a stable financial situation. The School's international relations and profile have deepened and strengthened. In addition, Auvinen has brought a strong sense of dialogue and community into his leadership.
"My current term of office was marked by both a pandemic and a war, both of which had a significant impact on the School's capacities. I am therefore particularly pleased to continue as Dean of the School of Arts, Design and Architecture for the next five years. Now we can broaden our perspectives on the future of the School. As part of the Aalto community, Aalto ARTS contributes to the success of the University and in many ways shows the way forward," says Tuomas Auvinen.
The Dean is responsible for directing the School’s activities and taking part in the long-term development of Aalto University as a member of its management team. The Dean is also responsible for the overall development and international competitiveness of the School, for allocating its resources and for recruiting faculty. The dean reports to the provost.
