Acoustic measurement with lasers

A laser is able to induce sparks that behave like an ideal point source for sound, which is useful for the research of room acoustics.
Laser

Description

A powerful pulsed laser can create sparks with very high SPL, and with perfect omnidirectional characteristics. The project develops the system for every-day use for acoustic consultants in field measurements, and as an alternative method to reproduce audio. Several applications are foreseen for the technology, and they could be tested and documented in student projects.
