The aim of the Quality Model for High-Athlete-Profit Colleges is to improve the prerequisites for professional athletes to complete higher education alongside a demanding sports career. The Finnish Olympic Committee aims to identify and recognise those universities and polytechnics that meet the quality criteria defined for a pro-athlete university in their operations and that wish to develop the dual careers of athletes in cooperation with local sports academies.
The aim of auditing is to identify challenges in the study path of special groups and to develop and create common practices to facilitate the completion of studies. This so-called HUMKK audit focuses on examining in particular the possibilities for top-level athletes to complete university studies in such a way that support sports performance, student athlete well-being and career planing after a sports career.
Preparation for the audit has begun with the work on the self-assessment report. During April, Aalto Urhea students were be able to answer the questionnaire produced by the Olympic Committee. In early autumn, self-assessment workshop and interviews will be carried out by different groups of actors and a final self-assessment report will be prepared for the Olympic Committee's audit team. The actual audit visit with interviews is scheduled for late November 2025.
