Our skilled Workshop Masters oversee diverse workshops, allowing exploration of various materials and techniques. Each workshop, led by an expert in their field, offers guidance on tools and methods.
Close collaboration between Workshop Masters and Teachers ensures an unique, practical learning experience.

Changes in Väre lockers
All student lockers in Väre will be turned into short term lockers. The change is based on an analysis of the usage logs and has been discussed with student representatives.

3D Print
The 3D Print workshop is a learning environment where ARTS students and researchers can prototype, create and investigate additive and digital manufacturing.

ARTS Workstations
In addition to shared IT classes, Aalto ARTS offers a wide range of workstation environments, including various video editing units, 3D-modelling units, a colour-managed IT class and editing room, and other special facilities as well as expertise in all your IT needs.

Biofilia
Biofilia is a biological art unit which provides a platform for trans-disciplinary research and education. It provides artists, researchers, students and scholars with the ability to engage with the life sciences and their applications within an artistic and cultural context, thus making creative and critical links between biosciences, engineering and the arts.

Darkrooms at Väre and Otakaari 1X
Otaniemi campus has two darkrooms, designed for the development of photos and black-and-white films, which can be booked for course teaching activities and for use by students.
Darkrooms are closed during summertime between 14.6.-5.8.2019

Photography studio on Väre is a learning environment for courses, research and for artistic activities.

Photo studio/ Open
The Open Photo studio is a fully equipped learning environment dedicated for photography. Space offers a versatile studio and it is available for student projects.

Painting Room
The Painting Room is an environment for ARTS students and researchers to paint and apply surface treatments to prototypes or models. It is possible to paint with a syringe, roller, brush or apply spray coatings there.

Pattern making Workshop
The Pattern making Workshop is a research and learning environment for ARTS students and researchers. The workshop offers facilities, equipment and technical staff to fulfill their course work and the physical part of the artistic research.

Printlab/ Bookstudio
Bookstudio, Digital printshop is a service for ARTS students and staff to order printed media products. Service is a supportive service for teaching, research, artistic activities and communication.

Sandbox
Sandbox is a space for building mockups for developing practical studio skills, creating sculpture and installation art.

Sewing Workshop

Textile printing Workshop

Transportation
The School of Arts, Design and Architecture owns a VW van, which can be borrowed. Additionally, Aalto offers campus bikes.
