CHEMARTS Project

CHEMARTS is a long-term strategic collaboration between two schools at Aalto University, the School of Chemical Engineering (CHEM) and the School of Arts, Design and Architecture (ARTS).

The aim of this course is to develop a sustainable material or innovative product idea in the CHEMARTS lab, using renewable sources, waste streams, or plant biomass. Through hands-on experimentation and prototyping, students explore new recipes for material development. The research process is documented systematically.

A project plan, including a timeline, must be presented at the start of the course. Students propose their own projects based on their interests within the CHEMARTS framework.

The experimental process, findings, and results will be presented in a joint seminar and/or exhibition at the end of the course.
