Maria Solarte

Postdoctoral Researcher

Maria Claudia Solarte-Vasquez is an Attorney-at-Law specializing in contract law, working on contract drafting and risk management, and an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) consultant. She has promoted interdisciplinary research and legal innovation as a lecturer for over 25 years, facilitating legal courses for non-law students and non-legal topics for law students. Her main areas of interest combine legal theory, and legal semiotics, regulatory quality and innovation, strategic transaction design techniques, and Smart Contracting as an exchange relations model.

Most recently, Maria has focused on novel contracting categories and standards to build a legal pathway to automation. She is a research fellow at the School of Business and Governance of Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia, where she also completed her doctoral research (Ph.D.) on the governance of digital exchange relations, and holds a post-doctoral research position at the Accounting Department of Aalto Business School in Finland. She obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in international business transactions and public international law from the Washington College of Law of The American University, in The United States, and her Bachelor degree of law and political sciences was awarded by the Bolivariana Pontificia University, in Medellin, Colombia.
