SmartSuccessAVSmart Management and Decision-Making for Success in the Film and AV Industry: Advancing the Global Competitiveness and Strategic Leadership

The operating environment of the film and audiovisual industry has changed rapidly. Funding logics, distribution structures and competitive dynamics have become increasingly complex, and decision-making now takes place under conditions that are more difficult to anticipate. In small-language markets, the global competitiveness of production ecosystems relies ever more strongly on strategic leadership and decision-making.

Launched with Business Finland Co-Innovation funding, the SmartSuccessAV research project aims to produce new research-based knowledge on how success is governed in the film and AV industry and how decision-making is shaped as production, financing and distribution structures evolve.

The research project is led by Professor Susanna Helke, and the research work is carried out by the The Elements of Success Research Group, consisting of doctoral candidates specialising in production studies in film and audiovisual media: Johanna Wartio, Ilkka Matila and Heidi Rintala. One of the group’s earlier research projects was funded by Tekes.
