Info Session for External Thesis Advisors: Basics of Aalto Doctoral Supervision

One of the most common forms of supervisory collaboration in doctoral education is having a thesis advisor from another organization: Aalto’s doctoral students have hundreds of external advisors. If you advise an Aalto doctoral student but work elsewhere, this session is for you!

While on paper the advisory arrangements appear almost identical, the real content of the role varies greatly. Advising a doctoral thesis while working outside Aalto can be highly fruitful but it can also be challenging. Being familiar with our doctoral supervision practices and knowing where to find support help keep things running smoothly.

The session is arranged live at Otaniemi campus, and it can be followed via Zoom. However, we recommend live attendance if you wish to participate in the discussion!
