rAt Research Group Open Day: Transdisciplinary research across art + science + technology
During this event, rAt group presents and reflects on the path of artistic doctoral research: from the first exploratory months, through the process of transdisciplinary inquiry, to graduation and what comes after. Framed around the lived stages of a Doctor of Arts (DA) journey, the day offers a practitioner’s insight into what transdisciplinary research can look like in practice.
Programme
14.00 Introduction by Prof. Dr. Laura Beloff.
15.00 Dr. Claudio Filho, a recent graduate, reflects on the doctoral process, working at the intersection of art, ecology, and technology, with a particular focus on biological arts, nonhuman agencies, and artificial intelligence.
16.00 Müge Yildiz, a doctoral researcher, shares work-in-progress on eco-analog filmmaking and bio-based motion picture film.
17.00 rAt members' lightning talks on how doctoral research deals with practice and theory: Cynthia Blanchette, Aurora Del Rio, Jurgis Peters, Ana Todosijević.
18.00 Gregoire Rousseau, doctoral researcher, presents Oramics Radio artwork, a reinterpretation of the sound instrument Oramics using contemporary technology. The Oramics translates handwritten body gestures into sound. The sound device was first designed by female electronic pioneer Daphne Oram in the late 50's in England in the B.B.C Radio studio. Oramics Radio was first shown in the Sculpting Times exhibition at Aalto University in April 2026.
Whether you are curious about rAt’s approaches to trans-disciplinary artistic research on Art & Science & Technology, interested in doctoral studies yourself, or wondering how artistic practice and research intersect, you are warmly welcome to join.
