About us

House of AI is an interdisciplinary centre that supports high-quality research collaboration around artificial intelligence between researchers representing different disciplines as well as industry. It builds on the multidisciplinary and long-term expertise of the university and its international networks in technology, art, and business.

House of AI aims at projects that bring together different disciplines in Aalto University and companies, and contribute to sustainability solutions as well as the competitiveness of Finnish industries. We are especially focusing on projects that relate to our thematic areas. The projects ideally combine long-term as well as rapid work, and have excellence and impact. We seek projects funded by grants and/or industry, and we encourage synergies between projects.

Background

Aalto University established the multidisciplinary House of AI in 2024 to accelerate scientific research and practical applications in the field of artificial intelligence. The establishment of the centre was made possible by a EUR 3.2 million donation ÄûÃʵ¼º½ University by the Technology Industries of Finland Centennial Foundation.

Aalto University has strong networks in AI research and coordinates extensive nationwide activities in the area. The House of AI builds on the strong foundation of the Finnish Center for Artificial Intelligence (FCAI). The local ecosystem also includes the ELLIS Institute Helsinki, which connects to the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS) network.
