Piloting the grading tool Gradescope
Aalto University is piloting the use of a new tool, Gradescope, for grading and assessing student work. Gradescope uses a rubric as the basis of assessment. Several teachers can grade the same assignment from the pool of submissions. The rubric can be made or adjusted on the fly, and Gradescope automatically updates already marked submissions. Gradescope is also able to make a similarity comparison of structured texts like computer programs.

Re-built process for collecting course feedback launched
A re-built process for course feedback has been approved and launched. It can be seen as the “Aalto way of collecting feedback”, where the process gives a direction while it still leaves leeway for teacher´s own approach and practices. The main idea is to look at course feedback as a course element, similarly to, for instance, assessment.

Summer break in Exam-studios on July 2022
All Exam-studios on Aalto campus are closed during 1.7-31.7.2021 due to maintenance and software installations.

HowUTeach self-assessment tool for teachers is piloted at Aalto
HowUTeach is a research based self-assessment tool created primarily for teachers. The purpose of HowUTeach is to increase teachers’ awareness of their teaching and thereby enhance individual self-reflection relating to work and wellbeing. HowUTeach is being piloted at Aalto during the academic year 2022-23.
