NarrowBand IOT
5G. This is among the first standalonemode NB-IoT, Narrowband Internet-of-Things, implementations in the world.

Tools and Platforms
At Aalto University we have the following platforms and tools to help advancing our research work on 5G: Nettitutka.
Workshop: Internet of Things, the Road Ahead: Applications, Challenges, and Solutions (PIMRC 2017, Montréal, Quebec, Canada)
5G research. Workshop: Internet of Things, the Road Ahead: Applications, Challenges, and Solutions (PIMRC 2017, Montréal, Quebec, Canada)
Workshop: From M2M Communications to Internet of Things (PIMRC 2016, Valencia, Spain
5G reserach

Software Defined Networking
A virtualized mobile LTE network together with the mobile backhaul deployed with the Software Defined Networks (SDN) would be able to provide the required elasticity to match available resources to the traffic demand.
Workshop: M2M Communications: Challenges, Solutions and Applications (PIMRC 2015, Hong Kong)
5G, IEEE 26th Annual International Symposium on Personal, Indoor, and Mobile Radio Communications (PIMRC)

Cloud Radio Access Networks (C-RAN)
In C-RAN, the radio access network (RAN) functionality is moved to the cloud computing infrastructure. Remote radio units (RRU) of different cells are connected to the cloud via a high speed front-haul link, such as a fiber network.

MIMO
Practical Massive MIMO (multiple input, multiple output). MIMO is an antenna technology for wireless communications in which multiple antennas are used at both the transmitter and receiver.

D2D & M2M
Machine to Machine (M2M) communication through mobile systems is emerging fast and new services are introduced constant and Device to Device (D2D) communication is becoming one of the 5G enablers

Konecranes assignment inspired students to build smart prototypes
Students designed an assistive tool for the Konecranes' overhead crane.
Henry Ford Foundation and Aalto University take Finland towards smart mobility
The Henry Ford Foundation has granted Aalto University 750 000 euros for smart mobility research. The cooperation was kicked off at the Smart Mobility seminar on 27 February 2018.
Collaboration
For industry Aalto Industrial Internet Campus (AIIC) offers a neutral platform for exploring the future opportunities of Industrial Internet.

Nelli Lähteenmäki's unique story
Nelli Lähteenmäki, who did her Master of Science degree at Aalto University, has been able to achieve a lot.

Junction brings together businesses and the new IT generation
Junction hackathon is 48 hours of ambitious coding and epic experiences.

Curiosity created a career
Katri Junna studied structural engineering at Aalto, but ended up working in the software industry and is now working as a consultant for Netlight Consulting. Katri describes herself as a generally curious person with a little bit of interest in almost everything. Aalto turned out to be an ideal place to study.

Arshe Said: "Dive deep"
Arshe Said is not your typical researcher. His work with steel by-products has been breathtaking – combining waste materials together to make a new product that has commercial demand is not only award winning, but also ensures a more sustainable planet.
