The Research Infrastructure Management Team
The Research Infrastructure Management Team supports the decision-making of the Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering in the strategic development of the school's research infrastructures.
The task of the Research Infrastructure Management Team is to provide the dean and the school's management team with information and recommendations on matters such as the formation, prioritization, resource allocation, and budgeting of research infrastructures, risk management, compliance with requirements and regulations, as well as the planning and organization of the daily and annual tasks required from research infrastructures.
The Research Infrastructure Management Team monitors that the investment plans for the research infrastructures implement the long-term development plans of the infrastructures and makes proposals to the Dean regarding the allocation of resources to the infrastructures.
Members for the Research Infrastructure Management Team selected based on suggestions made by the departments. The Research Infrastructure Management Team convenes a minimum of three times a year.

Professor Petri Mähönen chairs the Research Infrastructure Management Team.
The task of the academic leader of the research infrastructure is to
- Lead the strategy work by coordinating the preparation and updating of the long-term development plan for the research infrastructure and coordinating the preparation and updating of the short-term investment plan as part of the development plan, and managing investment priorities in relation to the development plan.
- Ensuring funding for the infrastructure by being responsible for applying for the status of Aalto's major infrastructure and managing the obligations brought along by the possible status together with the persons responsible for technical operations and the vice dean responsible for ELEC's research infrastructures and preparing internal and external funding applications for the research infrastructure and presenting them to the Research Infrastructure Management Team of the School of Electrical Engineering.
- Developing the school's research infrastructure as a whole by participating in the work of Research Infrastructure Management Team of the School of Electrical Engineering.
- Guiding the connection between the infrastructure's strategy and everyday operations by serving as the academic contact person for the individual responsible for the technical operations of the research infrastructure.
Each research infrastructure has a steering group whose members are selected from among the professors using the research infrastructure, as well as from the necessary number of lecturers and staff and senior scientists, as decided by the steering group.
The steering groups are responsible for:
- supporting the Academic Leader of Infrastructure in their duties and developing the infrastructure as a whole.
- prioritising investment needs by consensus or, if necessary, escalating prioritisation to the research infrastructure management team
- representing the professors and research groups using the infrastructure, they are responsible for: contributing to the planning of infrastructure development and investments and assessing investment needs from the perspective of the infrastructure as a whole.
