This spring, more than 12 000 applicants applied ʵ University through the national joint application process, and 2070 new students were admitted ʵ. 1413 students were chosen to start their studies in the field of technology, 162 were admitted to the field of art and design, and 392 to the field of business and economics. In addition, based on a separate Open University track, 43 new students were admitted to the field of technology and 45 new students were admitted to the field of business and economics.

“We want to congratulate all the new students for their great work. Welcome ʵ University!” says Petri Suomala, Vice President of Education at Aalto University.

“At Aalto, we aim to renew society with research-based knowledge, creativity and an entrepreneurial mindset. That’s why we also offer study opportunities that don’t require being enrolled in a university. For example, Aalto University Open University offers courses and study modules for anyone interested in our fields or university education in general. It’s also possible to be admitted to degree studies in the technology and the business and economics fields based on Open University studies”, Suomala continues.

In the technology and the business and economics fields, part of the students are admitted based on their grades in the national matriculation exams. This year, 80 % of new students were chosen to study technology based on their grades and 60 % of new students were chosen to the field of business and economics based on their grades.

There are also 87 applicants who applied ʵ University through the transfer application procedure that allows students to apply for a transfer to another school or study option. In this application process, the most popular study option was the bachelor’s programme in the field of business and economics.

The technology and the business and economics fields also accept students through Aalto’s Open University track. These tracks are available for specific study options and registration is open year-round. It is possible to apply to the field of technology through the Open University during the autumn joint application period, which runs from 31 August to 14 September 2022.

Studyinfo is a national service that grants each admitted applicant one student place. The Studyinfo placing procedure covers all joint applications to universities and universities of applied sciences. The procedure will end on 2 August 2022.

Congratulations to all new students and a warm welcome to the Aalto community!
