Aalto University appoints new professors to the Tenure Track Career System

The following persons have been appointed tenure track professors:

Heidi Falkenbach (Dr. Sc. Tech.) has been appointed to a fixed-term position as Assistant Professor at the School of Engineering, Department of Real Estate, Planning and Geoinformatics. Her professorship is in the field of  Real Estate Informatics.

Antti Peltokorpi (Dr. Sc. Tech.) has been appointed to a fixed term position as Assistant Professor at the School of Engineering, Department of Civil and Structural Engineering. His professorship is in the field of Operations Management in Construction. Mr Peltokorpi is specialised in the research of service innovations, production strategies for services, and operations management.

Mikael Rinne (Dr. Sc. Tech.) has been appointed to a fixed-term position as Associate Professor (non-tenured) at the  School of Engineering, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.  His professorship is in the field of Rock Mechanics.

Heidi Salonen (Ph.D) has been appointed to a fixed-term, position as Associate Professor  at the School of Engineering, Department of Civil and Structural Engineering. Her professorship is in the field of indoor environment technology. This is a new professorship at Aalto University and is in the research area of  Building Physics and Environmental Microbiology, which is one of the  three focus areas of the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering.

Eero Vaara (Ph.D Econ.) has been appointed Full Professor at the  School of  Business, Department of Management Studies. His professorship is in the field of Management. Mr Vaara's areas of research include organisational and strategy changes, as well as multinational corporations and globalisation.

Taija Turunen (Dr. Sc. Tech.) has been appointed to a fixed-term position as Assistant Professor at the School of Business, Department of Management Studies. Her professorship is in the field of Design Business Management. Ms Turunen's research focuses on organisation and network structures and strategic competitiveness.

Jari Huikku (Ph.D Econ.) has been appointed to a fixed-term position as Assistant Professor at the School of Business, Department of Accounting. His professorship is in the field of Accounting. Mr Huikku's specific areas of research are calculation of goodwill, decision-making, strategic investments and prediction of sales.

Jukka Luoma (Dr. Sc. Econ.) has been appointed Assistant Professor at the School of Business, Department of Marketing. His professorship is in the field of Marketing. Mr Luoma's research is centred on strategic marketing and competition dynamics.

Juuso Liesiö (Dr. Sc. Econ.) has been appointed Assistant Professor at the School of Business Department of Information and Service Economy. His professorship is in the field of Management Science. Mr Liesiö's research centres on  new methods for modelling of uncertainties and identification of stable decision options.

Yong Liu (Dr. Sc.) has been appointed Assistant Professor at the School of Business, Department of Information and Service Economy. His professorship is in the field of Information System Science.

Mari Lundström (Dr. Sc. Tech.) has been appointed to a fixed-term position as Assistant Professor at the School of Chemical Technology, Department of Materials Science and Engineering.  Her professorship is in the field of Materials Science and Engineering.

Rodrigo Serna (Ph.D) has been appointed to a fixed-term position as Assistant Professor at the School of Chemical Technology, Department Materials Science and Engineering. Her professorship is in the field of Materials Science and Engineering.

Antti Karttunen (Ph.D) has been appointed Assistant Professor at the School of  Chemical Technology, Department of Chemistry. His professorship is in the field of Inorganic Materials Chemistry. Mr Karttunen is specialised in researching the structure of inorganic materials utilising the methods of computational chemistry.

Christian Flindt (Ph.D) has been appointed to a fixed-term position of Assistant Professor at the School of Science, Department of Applied Physics. His professorship is in the Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics of Quantum Phenomena and Devices.

Aki Vehtari (Ph.D) has been appointed to a fixed term position as Associate Professor at the School of Science, Department of Computer Science. His professorship is in the field of Computational Science, with a specialisation in probabilistic modelling. Mr Vehtari's area of speciality is in the utilisation of the Bayesian probability theory in the identification of uncertainties and application of the theory in research of health and illnesses.

Esa Ollila (Dr. Sc. Tech.) has been appointed to a  fixed-term position as Associate Professor at the School of Electrical Engineering, Department of Signal Processing and Acoustics. His professorship is in the field of Signal Processing and specifically in the research of audio and speech technology.

Simo Särkkä  (Dr. Sc. Tech.) has been appointed to a fixed-term position as Associate Professor at the School of Electrical Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation. His professorship is in the field of Electrical  Engineering and specifically in the research area of embedded systems in health technology.

Juan José Galan-Vivas (Ph.D) has been appointed to a fixed-term position as Associate Professor at the School of Arts, Design and Architecture, Department of Architecture. His professorship is in the field of Landscape Architecture. Mr Galan-Vivas' research focuses on landscape architecture, urban design and landscape design.

Toni Kotnik (Ph.D) has been appointed Associate Professor at the School of Arts, Design and Architecture, Department of Architecture.  His professorship is in the field of Design of Structures, and it is a shared professorship with the School of Engineering, Department of Civil and Structural Engineering. Mr Kotnik's research is centred on the integration of knowledge from science and engineering into architectural thinking and the design process.

Lily Diaz-Kommonen, Ph.D (Arts) has been appointed Full Professor at the School of Arts, Design and Architecture, Department of Media. Her professorship is in the field of  New Media. Ms Diaz-Kommonen's area of research is the design of digital forms for cultural heritage, interaction and information.

Aalto University has appointed new Professors of Practice

Professor of Practice is a fixed-term position that allows university to appoint qualified leaders from the academic and business worlds, as well as the public sector, to a specific task. These persons have had a notable impact in fields that are important ÄûÃʵ¼º½ University.

Olli Seppänen (Dr. Sc. Tech.) has been appointed Professor of Practice at the School of Engineering, Department of Civil and Structural Engineering. His professorship is in the field of Operations Management in Construction.

Ainomarja Haarla (Dr. Sc. Tech.) has been appointed Professor of Practice at the School of Business, Department of Management Studies. Her professorship is in the field of Corporate Entrepreneurship, and the professorship is shared with the School of Chemical Technology.

Katariina Kemppainen (Ph.D Econ.) has been appointed Professor of Practice at the School of Business, Department of Information and Service Economy. Her professorship is in the field of Logistics.

Minna Logemann (Dr. Sc. Econ.) has been appointed Professor of Practice at the School of Business, Department of Management Studies. Her professorship is in the field of organisational communication.

Olli-Pekka Lumijärvi (Dr. Sc. Econ.) has been appointed Professor of Practice at the School of Business, Department of Accounting. His professorship is in the field of Accounting.

Esko Penttinen (Dr. Sc. Econ.) has been appointed Professor of Practice at the School of Business, Department of Information and Service Economy. His professorship is in the field of Information System Science.

Paul Viilo (Dr. Sc. Econ.) has been  appointed Professor of Practice at the School of Business, Department of Marketing. His professorship is in the field of Sales and Sales Management.

Liisa Välikangas (Dr. Sc. Econ.) has been appointed Professor of Practice at the School of Business, Department of Management Studies. Her professorship is in the field of Innovation Management.

Architect Pekka Heikkinen has been appointed Professor of Practice at the School of Arts, Design and Architecture, Department  of Architecture. His professorship is in the field of Wood Architecture.

Kaisa Mäkinen (MA) has been appointed Professor of Practice at the School of Arts, Design and Architecture, Department of Film, Television and Scenography. Her professorship is in the field of Production Design for Film and Television.
