Aalto University art and design ranked 14th in university comparison

Also other areas of technology, arts, and business did very well in the QS ranking

QS World University Rankings by Subject  2015 has been published. Aalto University was ranked as the 14th best university in the world in the subject of art & design. This was the first time that the subject was evaluated in the QS World University Rankings.

Aalto University placed between 51 and 100 in the subjects of Architecture / Built Environment,  Materials Science, Accounting & Finance and Business & Management Studies. Aalto placed between 101 and 150 in the following subjects: Computer Science & Information Systems, Electrical & Electronic Engineering. Ranked between 151 and 200 were the subjects Chemical Engineering, Civil & Structural Engineering, Mathematics and Economics & Econometrics.

The QS rankings by subject emphasise both the university's reputation in the world of academia and among employers, as well as research publications and references that they get. The significance of these factors is subject-based in the sense that the results in the field of art and design are based completely on factors of reputation, while in, for example, materials science, reputation accounts for 50%, with the other 50% determined on the basis of references to published articles.

This year the QS World University Rankings by Subject  examined 3,500 universities around the world. QS also compares universities as a whole, and this ranking is published in the autumn. In September on this list.
