The CEMS Master’s in Management (MIM) programme of Aalto University was rated 3rd best in a comparison of a total of 29 CEMS schools on the basis of last year’s student feedback.

Aalto University got the network’s highest scores for achieved learning results. Students also gave excellent evaluations to the other parts of the survey, such as courses, seminars and project work and the guidance given for them, and also to the management of the CEMS programme and the service provided by the staff in the programme.

‘CEMS students have positive energy and an open attitude – both characteristics that good interaction in teaching situations is based on. In small and large projects with CEMS business partners, students produce fresh ideas and make perceptive observations, which encourages the companies to continue collaboration. On the whole, it is a positive spiral,’ says Professor of Practice Rita Järventie-Thesleff, the academic director of the programme, and commends her colleagues.

In the academic year 2017–2018, CEMS MIM will be available for the last time as a Crown model programme to master’s students who are already registered at Aalto University. In future, CEMS MIM will be a part of the Master’s Programme in Global Management, which will replace the current CEMS MIM programme.

The application period for the first Master’s Programme in Global Management begins in December 2016

The new 120-credit Master’s Programme in Global Management begins at the Aalto University School of Business in the academic year 2017–2018. The first application period is in December and January 2016–2017

‘The students admitted to this programme will have a unique opportunity to combine two prestigious educations: to complete the MSc degree in Economics and Business Administration awarded by the Aalto University School of Business and to receive the CEMS MIM (Master’s in International Management) diploma in International Management,’ says Rita Järventie-Thesleff.

The Master’s Programme in Global Management consists of CEMS MIM studies and a specialisation track, which include accounting, corporate communications, entrepreneurship and innovation management, finance, management and international business, marketing and strategy.

The CEMS programme has constantly been at the forefront of development

CEMS (the Global Alliance in Management Education), an alliance of leading universities and business schools and multinational companies, was established in 1988 and the Aalto University School of Business has been the only Finnish member school in the alliance since 1998. The membership of the alliance consists of a total of 30 universities, 74 international companies and 4 social partners. The Finnish companies in the alliance are KONE and Nokia.

The programme has developed constantly during the almost 30 years of its existence. This has been possible because professors of the universities in the network have provided the programme with high-quality research and teaching. The 70 companies and 4 social partners in the alliance have in turn given advise about what kind of knowledge and skills will benefit students in working life and have offered company projects, internships and visiting lectures to students. The excellent, international students have grasped the opportunities provided by the programme and found employment soon after their graduation.
