Aalto University continues coordinating the international Cumulus association

More than half of Cumulus full members supported the School of Arts, Design and Architecture in the call for secretariat.

Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture will continue as the Secretariat of Cumulus, an international association of universities and colleges in art, design and media, in 2016–2020. The decision was made at the General Assembly of Cumulus on 6 June in Milan during the Cumulus Conference “The Virtuous Circle”. The conference, taking place on 3–7 June, was part of the World Expo 2015 programme.

– The School of Arts, Design and Architecture was supported with close to 120 recommendations by the Cumulus full members in the call for secretariat. This shows strong trust ʵ University also as a partner to carry on Cumulus, says Eija Salmi, Director of International Affairs at the School of Arts, Design and Architecture and the Secretary General of Cumulus.

 Cumulus is the only global network representing art, design and media education and research. It is a forum for partnership and transfer of knowledge and best practices with 230 member universities from 50 countries. Cumulus organises, for example, seminars, workshops and courses, research projects as well as student and teacher exchanges.

Cumulus was founded in 1990 by the University of Art and Design, the predecessor of School of Arts, Design and Architecture, together with the Royal College of Art in London.
