Aino Pekkarinen appointed communications manager at the School of Science

She took up her role in August 2025.

Aino Pekkarinen joins Aalto from the University of Helsinki, where she worked in communications for the Faculty of Science. Pekkarinen brings broad experience in both academia and the communications sector, including journalism for STT and Helsingin Sanomat. She holds a master's degree in social sciences. 

At the School of Science, her duties include a wide range of science communications and student marketing.

‘Science communication is rewarding when we can explain in concrete terms how research makes the world a better place. There is always a need for hope,’ she says.
