Business & Economics at Aalto rises to 53rd place in Times Higher Education ranking

Computer Science also places in the top 100 globally.

Aalto University is 53rd in the world in business and economics in the recent Times Higher Education Rankings by Subject. Among European universities, Aalto was 15th. Overall, over 700 universities were included in this subject. Last year, Aalto’s ranking was 54th in the world.

Computer Science at Aalto also placed in the top 100, coming in at spot 66. Last year, Aalto’s ranking in this subject was 56th. Among European universities, Aalto was 18th in computer science, and overall, over 800 universities were assessed worldwide.

In Engineering, the university ranked 126-150 from over 1000 universities assessed. Last year Aalto’s ranking in this field was 101-125.

Times Higher Education is one of the world's most important university rankings, and its general ranking measures the performance of universities with 13 indicators in the areas of international research, citations, teaching and research funding from companies.

In addition to rankings of specific fields of science, the THE also produces general rankings that measure the performance of universities as a whole. In a listing for young universities less than 50 years of age Aalto came 20th in the world.

Depending on the method of calculation, there are approximately between 17 000 and 22 000 universities in the world. Aalto University is specialised in technology, business and the arts. Field or subject-specific rankings are the most relevant for Aalto University, as these depict the university's areas of operation better than general rankings.
