Campus vision 2050 to be updated in 2026

Aalto University’s campus vision will be revised in 2026.  The existing campus vision, Exploring Campus 2050, launched in 2018, set out three alternative scenarios for the campus of tomorrow. These scenarios were later consolidated into a single vision, renamed Sustainable and Thriving Campus.

Our operating environment has changed in many ways in recent years: remote working has increased, financial costs have risen and major construction projects—Väre, Ekonominaukio 1, Kide and Marsio—have been completed, among others.

The update will start with benchmarking work. Aalto students, personnel and other stakeholders will be invited to participate in the process to give their ideas, insights and feedback. More information about the process for logged-in users below.

The resulting Campus Vision 2050 update will reflect our current views and assumptions regarding the physical, digital, and social aspects of the Aalto Campus in 2050. Campus Vision 2050 will set targets for us and direct the development work that will improve the campus experience.

Who is responsible for the update process?

The revision process is overseen by a steering group:

  • Laura Aalto, chair (Communication Services),
  • Marianna Bom (Financial Services),
  • Ville Jokela (Aalto University Campus & Real Estate, ACRE)
  • Raili Pönni (Leadership Support Services)
  • Gianni Talamini, Associate Professor of Urban and Regional Planning (School of Art, Design and Architecture).

The update work is coordinated by ACRE's team Satu Kankaala and Tuomo Uusitalo.

The Campus Experience Advisory Group is serving as a sounding board for the update.
