Department Heads of the School of Chemical Engineering have been appointed

The new term begins in 1st of January 2020.

Department Heads of the School of Chemical Engineering have been appointed.

The terms of the Heads and Vice Heads of departments of Chemistry and Materials and Science Bioproducts and Biosystems end by 31st of December 2019. The Dean Kristiina Kruus has appointed professors as the Heads and Vice Heads for the period 1st of January 2020 - 31st of December 2023 as follows: 

Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems

Head of Department: Herbert Sixta (until 31.3.2023)
Vice Head of Department: Markus Linder 
Vice Head of Department: Monika Österberg. 

Department of Chemistry and Materials Science 

Head of Department: Jari Koskinen
Vice Head of Department: Kari Laasonen

According to what has been decided earlier Ville Alopaeus will continue as the Head and Ari Jokilaakso as the Vice Head of the Department of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering.

Eric Malmi received his PhD from Aalto University in 2018 with a dissertation that developed AI methods for linking historical records and family trees. At Google DeepMind he has developed Gemini language models and a chess AI. He returned to his alma mater because of ELLIS Institute Finland.
