Emil Aaltonen Foundation Grant Awarded to CEST researcher Jari Järvi
The Emil Aaltonen Foundation has granted Jari Järvi a PhD fellowship for his third year to continue his project “Machine-Learning Method for Atomistic Structure Search in Materials Science”. In this project, Järvi investigates the atomic structure and electronic properties of hybrid organic-inorganic materials for emerging technologies, such as new electronic devices and green energy solutions. In his work, Järvi applies the (BOSS) method, which is a new artificial intelligence tool, recently developed by CEST. BOSS combines machine learning algorithms from computer science with quantum mechanical calculations for automated structure prediction of hybrid materials. Using BOSS, Järvi aims to acquire insight on hybrid interface structures, which can help to optimize the functional properties of these materials.
