Finance students from Aalto BIZ represented Finland in the Rotman European trading competition
Aalto BIZ Finance Master’s students Sofia Silvanovich, Antti Niemi, Janne Virtala, and Elina Eskola (from left to right in the picture) participated in the Rotman European trading competition 2016 for three days. Ferrari was one of the sponsors, hence the cars in the picture. Each member state of the European Union (+Norway) had a team for a total of 29 teams. The teams competed in six different trading assignments and cases.
The Aalto team placed third on the EIM Institute interest rate case, as well as in the Generali credit risk case. In total results Aalto came 9th, as the best Nordic country. The home team Italy took first place (each receiving an iPhone SE, among other stuff), followed by Poland, Czech Republic, Estonia, Spain, Slovakia, and Croatia. The assignments required intense concentration with lots of Excel modeling, and the days were long. Overall, it was a great experience learning analysis and decision-making, as well as networking, of course.
