The (HAIC), a joint initiative between Aalto University and the University of Helsinki, continues to attract industrial donors for its studentships. Donations will go towards scholarships for Master鈥檚 students in order to attract the best candidates worldwide to meet the acute and growing need for information security professionals. In 2019 our Master鈥檚 students will be supported by F-Secure and Huawei.

鈥淔-Secure collaborates closely with Aalto University and the University of Helsinki in research and education, and our support of HAIC reinforces this partnership. HAIC scholars have shown avid interest in internships and Master thesis writer positions at F-Secure, and we hope to continue building fruitful connections with talented students in the cyber security domain,鈥 says Mika St氓hlberg, F-Secure鈥檚 Chief Technology Officer.

鈥淚n the fast-growing era of technologies and cloud services, we strongly believe it is our mission to protect every citizen in our Huawei ecosystem. Therefore, it is crucial to invest in the next generation of cybersecurity experts to ensure sustainability in an such important field. We are excited to carve this future path with HAIC鈥, says Mikko Terho, VP Technology Planning & Site Manager of Huawei R&D Center.

The support from donors, like Huawei and F-Secure, will enable HAIC to offer several scholarships to the best applicants admitted to either the Security and Cloud Computing major in Aalto University鈥檚 Master鈥檚 programme in  or to  鈥 Master鈥檚 programme in Security and Cloud Computing (Erasmus Mundus).

HAIC scholars receive generous financial aid in the form of a living cost scholarship, participation fee waiver, or honours student position (part-time research-related employment during the semesters). We are a currently supporting 4 students through HAIC scholarships, and you can read more about .

鈥淚 am delighted that HAIC donors have renewed their gifts to HAIC. These gifts are used exclusively to offer scholarships to incoming MSc students specializing in information security,鈥 says Aalto University Professor N. Asokan

Last year, HAIC arranged several events where our students had the chance to meet and get to know the local industry and the opportunities available for them. We organized student visits to different companies, arranged several talks by renowned speakers under the HAIC Talks public outreach program, the annual Secure Systems Demo Day and an informal "meet and greet" get-together for students and industry representatives. As a result of these events, several students found internships and thesis positions with local companies. As Professor Asokan explains, 鈥淭here is a great demand for information security expertise in Finnish industry and state sectors. I hope that more Finnish companies come forward to join HAIC in our effort to attract top students to be trained in information security.鈥

HAIC was founded in 2016 as a joint initiative between Aalto University and the University of Helsinki to ensure excellence in information security research and education. The universities foster strong research groups and education programs in information security and privacy. Collectively these groups represent the best information security expertise in Finland and one of the best in Europe.
