How does an oil company make a green leap? Can the procurement community help Ukraine out of trouble? Welcome to the Prodeko seminar on responsible business on 6 May!

The theme of this year's Prodeko seminar is Navigating Responsibility and Growth, and speakers include Kaisa Hietala, Exxon Mobil's Board of Directors, and Sammeli Sammalkorpi, CEO of Sievo Oy.

The Department of Industrial Engineering and Management at Aalto University is once again organizing a traditional, annual Prodeko seminar together with the student organization Prodeko and alumni. The event will be in English and this year’s theme is Navigating Responsibility and Growth. The seminar brings together key players in industry, entrepreneurship, research and education, as well as students to discuss issues of growth and responsible business development.

This year, for the first time, the Prodeko seminar will be open to anyone interested through an online broadcast.

Time: 6 May  from 3 to 5 p.m. (EEST)

Registration by 4 May

The event will be opened by Ossi Naukkarinen, Vice Rector for Research at Aalto University.

Kaisa Hietala, Member of the Board of Exxon Mobil, talks about the challenges in implementing responsible change in the energy sector, the forest industry and the mining industry. Among other things, Hietala played a key role in strategically transforming Neste into the world's largest and most profitable producer of renewable products. During her tenure, Neste's renewable products segment's net sales increased 1.6 times and operating profit 4 times.

The second keynote by Sammeli Sammalkorpi, CEO of Sievo Oy, considers the traces of the corona pandemic: how did the software company's operations change and which of the changes are permanent? He also talks about the Procure4Peace concept, the idea of ​​which is to provide the global procurement community with the opportunity to procure and deliver the necessary assistance to Ukraine. At the same time, the initiative will help the global procurement community navigate through the challenges of the supply and supply chain around the situation in Ukraine.

At the end of the seminar, Kaj Hagros (Redstone Nordics), Johanna Pynnä (Kemira), Juha Leppänen (Demos Helsinki) and Panu Vuorela (Vaaka Partners) will exchange ideas on the importance of responsibility in work and life in general.
