We are inviting students this year again to leave ideas and vote, how to use 13 000 euros from the university's budget to improve wellbeing on the campus. The aim is to find a small project, that can be implemented with tight schedule on Otaniemi campus.

Do you already have an idea in your mind? Share it with us soon!

You can draw from any of Aalto’s three values; responsibility, courage, and collaboration. Please also consider the inclusivity, accessibility and sustainability of your idea. Last year's winner of the participatory budgeting project was the garden benches on the campus. Benches were installed near Väre late spring 2022. Among the benches, there were also planted polluter-friendly useful and decorative plants and herbs to pick.

What is possible?

  • The proposal should not require extensive construction measures, foundations or building permits.

  • The proposal should be implementable within the properties of Aalto University. You can access a map that illustrates the properties owned by the university .

Leave your proposal via or write it in the conversation box below (sign-in needed) before 30 September 2022. Our project team will go through the ideas and will organize an open vote among the feasible proposals. The winning proposal will be implemented during spring-summer 2023.

The vote on the participatory budgeting was decided – the garden benches were chosen as the winner

In spring 2021, we asked students how they would like to spend 12 000 euros of the university budget. The community discussion was based on the “One euro for every student” participatory budgeting pilot project launched in May.
