Ingmar Björkman continues as Dean of the School of Business

Björkman has been appointed for a second term as Dean from 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2019.

D.Sc. (Econ.), Professor Ingmar Björkman (b. 1959) has served as Dean of the School of Business since 2012.

– I'm very pleased that Björkman will continue in his position. Under his leadership, the School of Business has become one of the top schools in Europe. In addition, there has been significant growth in the amount of competitive research funding received by the School’s researchers, says President of Aalto University Tuula Teeri.

– I’m really glad to be able to continue working with our faculty, staff, students and stakeholders to develop an even better School of Business in the years ahead, says Björkman.

Björkman’s reappointment was based on a comprehensive assessment, taking into account the development in the School’s results, the results of the staff survey as well as interviews with professor, staff and student representatives, a report and School development plan submitted by the Dean, and an interview with the Dean.

The Dean is responsible for directing the School’s activities in accordance with Aalto University’s strategy and taking part in the long-term development of the University as a member of its Management Team. The Dean is responsible for the overall development and international competitiveness of the School, for allocating its resources within the framework of the University’s overall operating plan and budget, and for recruiting faculty in accordance with Aalto University’s tenure track policies.
