JOO studies and spring 2025 application period

Aalto University’s attending bachelor's, master’s, or doctoral students can apply for individual courses or a minor at another Finnish university, according to the national flexible study rights agreement (JOO). The study right is valid for a limited time.

Most universities have two application periods a year, the second being open in April 2025. This application period is for studies offered during 2025–2026. If you are applying in April 2025 to a university which has application periods, e.g. University of Helsinki, the application form must be submitted ʵ by Wednesday 16 April 2025 at the latest. Applications received late will not be processed.

Aalto University has resigned from the flexible study rights (JOO) agreement. The April 2025 application period will be the last opportunity for students to apply to complete JOO studies at another university that has specific application periods.

Aalto’s resignation will be effective from 1 January 2026. No new endorsements and approvals for JOO studies will be given after 31 July 2025. The JOO study rights granted prior to this date will remain valid as granted.
