Kari Tammi appointed as Full Professor

The dean of the School of Engineering, Professor Kari Tammi, has been appointed Full Professor at Aalto University, School of Engineering from January 1, 2024 by the decision of President Ilkka Niemelä.
Professor Kari Tammi

Kari Tammi has worked at the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the position of Associate Professor since 2015. The field of the professorship is the design of mechatronic machines.

Tammi started as dean of Aalto University's School of Engineering and as a member of the university's management team on July 1, 2023. Previously, he served as vice dean responsible for the effectiveness of the School of Engineering from 2022.

Eric Malmi received his PhD from Aalto University in 2018 with a dissertation that developed AI methods for linking historical records and family trees. At Google DeepMind he has developed Gemini language models and a chess AI. He returned to his alma mater because of ELLIS Institute Finland.
