Kati Laakso starts as Data Advisor in Research Services

Kati Laakso works in Open Science and ACRIS team, focusing on research data management.

Dr. Kati Laakso started as a Data Advisor in Open Science and ACRIS team in the beginning of November. She collaborates with her team, Aalto Data Agents and various other stakeholders in different aspects of open data.

Kati Laakso graduated from the University of Alberta with a Ph.D. in geologic remote sensing. Since then, she has worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology in Germany, Aalto University and the University of Alberta in Canada. In Canada, she also acted as a Laboratory Coordinator at the Centre for Earth Observation Sciences of the University of Alberta, and collaborated with the Inter-American Institute for Global Research as an Open Data Advisor. She has moreover a wide variety of industrial experience, having worked for instance in the fields of consulting and software engineering.

She is interested in all aspects of open data and science and in particular, solutions that facilitate data findability, accessibility, interoperability and re-usability (FAIR).
