New M.Sc. programme in Advanced Materials for Innovation and Sustainability starts in September 2017

Master’s programme in Advanced Materials for Innovation and Sustainability (AMIS) was awarded EIT label by the in September 2016. Three Master`s programmes of were labelled and AMIS programme will start in September 2017.
EIT Raw Materials – an EIT Knowledge and Innovation Community, KIC, – initiated by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology and funded by the European Commission, is the largest and strongest consortium in the raw materials sector worldwide. Its vision is a European Union where raw materials are a strategic strength. Its mission is to boost competitiveness, growth and attractiveness of the European raw materials sector via radical innovation and guided entrepreneurship.
At Aalto University, AMIS programme will combine entrepreneurship and innovation courses into engineering physics studies. AMIS programme is a two year (120 ECTS) joint study programme leading into a double degree and it is offered by the following European university partners:

- Aalto University, Espoo, Finland
- , Darmstadt, Germany
- , France
- , Belgium
In addition the following industry partners are core members of the consortium:
- (CEA)
The mobility of the students is an integrated part of the programme and during the two-year programme, the students will study at two of the consortium partner universities. The language of instruction is English.
Networking with industry and start-ups
AMIS programme will offer the students the possibility to combine studies in advanced materials with innovation, business and entrepreneurship education and get connected to industry too. Professor Robin Ras, Director of AMIS programme at Aalto University, also points out the importance of networking with entrepreneurship and business ecosystem stakeholders and start-ups during the studies.
“The graduated students will master a unique combination of entrepreneurial skills and fundamental and applied knowledge of advanced materials. Internship and thesis positions also at company sites will offer students a means to acquire hands-on experience”, says Robin Ras.
“This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain international experience and to get two Master degrees from well-known universities” sums up Eija Kujanpää, International Relations Manager.
There are separate application periods and procedures for the international joint degree programmes. Application period for the programme lasts until 20 February 2017 and the application process is coordinated by Grenoble Institut Polytechnique.
