FCAI: Postdoc, research fellow and doctoral researcher positions in machine learning and artificial intelligence – Finnish Center for Artificial Intelligence FCAI

Come work with us to push the boundaries of knowledge by developing new machine learning principles and tools for AI-assisted decision-making, design and modeling. Key areas of research include, but are not limited to, Bayesian modeling, differential privacy, reinforcement learning, robotics, simulator-based inference and user modeling.

FCAI’s internationally acclaimed research community provides you with a broad range of possibilities and Finland is a great place for living - it has been listed as the for the fourth year running.

The deadline for the postdoc/research fellow applications is January 30 and for the doctoral researcher applications February 6, 2022 (23:59, UTC+2).

HIIT: Postdoctoral Researcher and Research Fellow Positions in ICT

Aalto University and the University of Helsinki have formed a strategic partnership for supporting high-quality and high-impact research in information and communications technology. To support this mission, the universities host the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology (HIIT), and the Finnish Center for Artificial Intelligence (FCAI), which is one of the 10 national flagships nominated by the Academy of Finland. The mission of the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT is to enhance the quality, visibility and impact of Finnish research on information technology and support cooperation between ICT researchers, researchers in other fields, industry and public organisations.

We are seeking to fulfil Postdoctoral positions for 38 projects at our hosting universities. In addition, we are also looking to support up to 10 outstanding researchers in their career development through our HIIT Postdoctoral Fellowship and HIIT Research Fellowship Programmes prioritising the following HIIT focus areas:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Computational Health
  • Cybersecurity
  • Data Science
  • Foundations of Computing

HICT: Doctoral student positions in computer science

The Helsinki Doctoral Education Network in Information and Communications Technology () is a joint initiative by Aalto University and the , the two leading universities within this area in Finland. The network involves at present over 80 professors and over 200 doctoral students, and the participating units graduate altogether more than 40 new doctors each year.

The participating units of HICT have currently funding available for qualified doctoral students. We offer an exciting opportunity to join world-class research groups, with over 20 research projects to choose from. The activities of HICT and the themes of open positions are structured along five research area specific tracks:

  • Algorithms and machine learning
  • Life science informatics
  • Networks, networked systems and services
  • Software and service engineering and systems
  • User centered and creative technologies
