New prior licence model ensures immediate open access

In 2025, Aalto University introduced a prior licence model aimed at supporting researchers’ rights to their own peer-reviewed manuscripts. Through the prior licence model, a peer-reviewed manuscript can be licensed under the Creative Commons license required by the funder and deposited in Aalto’s institutional repository without any publication delay (embargo), regardless of the publisher’s terms. This helps researchers comply with open access requirements set by funders such as the Research Council of Finland and the EU.

Journal Search Tool

The new Journal Search tool enables quick and effortless searching of journals included in Aalto University’s open access publishing agreements.
