Professor appointments at the School of Engineering

Associate Professor Jani Romanoff, Vice Dean for education of the School of Engineering, has been promoted as Full Professor as of 1 June 2022, by the decision of President Ilkka Niemelä. The field of the professorship is marine technology.
Romanoff was appointed vice dean for a three-year term on 1 August, 2021. He works in the Marine and Arctic Technology Research Group at the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Romanoff's research and teaching are focused, among other things, on the development of lightweight structures used in ships.
Dr Ossi Kaario has been appointed as Associate professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Engineering for the period 1.7.2022–30.6.2027. The field of the professorship is computational fluid dynamics.
Dr Mika Salmi has been appointed as Assistant professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering for the period 1.8.2022–31.7.2026. The field of the professorship is sustainability in manufacturing.
PhD Mohamed Noureldin has been appointed as Assistant professor at the Department of Civil Engineering for the period 22.9.2022–21.9.2026. The field of the professorship is structural engineering.
