Professor Lasse Murtomäki has been appointed Head of Department and Assistant Professor Antti Karttunen Vice Head
Lasse Murtomäki has a long career in chemical engineering in various roles both as a researcher and a professor. Murtomäki received his PhD in 1992 from the Helsinki University of Technology (now Aalto University) and has focused his career on research and teaching of electrochemistry.
Antti Karttunen received his PhD in Physical Chemistry in 2007 from the University of Joensuu (now University of Eastern Finland). He joined Aalto University as an Assistant Professor in 2015, with research focus on inorganic materials chemistry. He is the head of the BSc Programme in Chemical Engineering and teaches courses on both chemistry and programming.
"I warmly welcome Lasse Murtomäki and Antti Karttunen to the leadership of our school. At the same time, I would like to thank Head of Department Jari Koskinen and Vice Head Kari Laasonen for their valuable work for our school for many years," says the Dean Kristiina Kruus.
Both Lasse and Antti will be members of the School’s Management Team.
