Professor Valeriy Vyatkin becomes Vice-President for Technical Activities at IEEE Industrial Electronics Society
Professor Valeriy Vyatkin, from the Department of Automation and Electrical Engineering, has been appointed as Vice-President for Technical Activities at for the term 2022–2023.
With over 400,000 members, the IEEE is the world’s largest association for technical professionals. The Industrial Electronics Society is part of IEEE. It has over 10 000 members, which makes it one of the largest and most influential societies in IEEE.
The role of the Vice-President is to lead and coordinate the activities conducted at of the society.
‘The research interests of the technical committees cover key technologies determining the future of humankind: from self-driving vehicles and renewable energy to artificial intelligence ethics and factory automation,’ professor Vyatkin says.
What he expects most from being Vice-President?
‘It is very exciting to be in such a vibrant environment. I can just hope to make a little contribution during my VP term to create more synergies and cross-border interaction between the technical committees to help create breakthroughs by our super-talented researchers.
I will also try to help Aalto colleagues be more involved in IEEE IES. I think this is truly a win-win opportunity!’
