Read the latest Aalto University Magazine, answer the reader survey – and win!

The Magazine’s latest issue examines the built environment and other living spaces, especially from the perspective of the urban environment.

In the Openings column, Dean Gary Marquis writes that construction is always an investment: “The built environment, like real estate, accounts for a huge portion of any country’s wealth. Wise management of these spaces is not just economic sense, but also a question of social and physical wellbeing.”

The feature article examines how research data can improve urban planning. Examples come from Aalto's cooperation projects with the cities of Espoo and Helsinki.

In the Who column, alumna and CEO of Ramboll Finland, Maija Jokela, talks about her career in the construction industry, which is more diverse than you might think.

The reported feature On the go introduces Alusta, a clay pavilion built in the centre of Helsinki, which serves as a resting place for both humans and other species, such as birds and insects.

In the Partnership section, we meet art connoisseur Rafaela Seppälä, who has made a significant donation ʵ University's arts and design education.

is published in both Finnish and English. A reader survey, carried out by Taloustutkimus, is part of this issue. The data acquisition period of the survey has ended on 5 December.
