School of Business graduates were invited to celebrate their achievement and to join the alumni community

Organized for the third time, the Masters’ Gala invited the School of Business graduates to celebrate their graduation.

The School of Business Alumni Relations and KY organized the Masters’ Gala on Wednesday 12 June for all new School of Business alumni who have graduated within the past year. The idea of the event is to gather all graduates together to celebrate their achievement and to welcome them to the active School of Business alumni community. There were also older members of the alumni community present in the event.

The evening included interesting talks and many encounters with both old and new friends. In the keynote speech, Eeva Raita from Futurice talked about the meaning of lifelong learning. She emphasized the importance of learning to learn, and encouraged everyone to experiment different things that might make you happy – often one does not know in advance what those things are.

“In life, there are certain limitations with which you have to learn to live. However, rather than getting stuck with the restrictions, I encourage challenging the status quo and finding a way to break through your limitations”, Eeva Raita said.

The School’s Dean Ingmar Björkman congratulated the graduates in his own speech for three reasons: firstly, for making a great choice in selecting the Aalto University School of Business as their place of study; secondly, for great timing in accomplishing their degree; and thirdly, for becoming a part of the alumni community as they graduated.

The graduates have made a great choice in selecting the School of Business as their place of study, for the Aalto University School of Business was the university degree with most applications in Finland in this spring's joint application process. The high number of applicants brings the best students to the School, which then guarantees the high value of the graduates’ degree also in the future. According to Björkman, the graduates had great timing in accomplishing their degree since they got to see and experience both School of Business campuses in Töölö and in Otaniemi.

In addition to the speeches, the Masters’ Gala included a buffet dinner and free mingling. The event ended with the performance by Akystic.
