Student progress in rare-earth element recovery from magnets
Students from our group are working on determining the feasibility of rare-earth element recovery from magnet waste.
So far the students have succesfully demagnetized scrap magnets. This allows for efficient separation by particle size and improved leaching kinetics. The next step is to determine which elements are leached and testing of various leaching acids.
