Studies from different fields are beneficial in working life

The students of Aalto University have good opportunities to compose a degree that combines courses from other study fields or conducting a minor from totally another study field. Competence from different fields, learning to work with people from different cultures and expanding skills through studies are also beneficial in working life.
The students of Aalto University have an opportunity to complete a minor (24 cr) at the Aalto University School of Business Mikkeli Campus, in the Bachelor’s Program in International Business. Juho Ollila is a third year student at the Bachelor’s Program in Biochemical and Chemical Engineering. He came to Mikkeli because he was interested in studying business and to completing studies in English.
'Business studies can be useful in many ways, for example when setting up a company or starting master’s studies in English. The courses have focused on international organizational behavior, consulting and marketing. The studies, as well as the foreign professors, degree and exchange students have helped him to understand how to work with people from different fields and cultures', tells Juho Ollila.
'Many presentations, written assignments and group works during the lectures have also developed my language skills during the minor studies. I recommend considering minor studies from another Aalto school or campus and going bravely elsewhere to learn new things. Students can apply for the minor offered in Mikkeli throughout the year, which made it easier for me to apply', he continues.
Students can also conduct courses in Mikkeli during summer, including Business Management of Digital Media Production, Environmental Economics, Financial Accounting for Global Business and Consumer Behavior.
Students interested in conducting minor studies at different schools or campuses of Aalto University, can explore the opportunities offered by Aalto University at Otaniemi campus in Minor Studies Fair on March 8, 2018.
