Technology Industries of Finland to donate one million euros to universities

Technology Industries of Finland is donating a total of one million euros to universities. Aalto University, along with nine other universities, will receive EUR 100 000.

This donation is meant to encourage universities in strategic cooperation as well as to strengthen their partnerships with companies to enable sustainable growth. Laura Juvonen, Executive Director for Growth and Skills at Technology Industries of Finland highlights Aalto University’s role as a builder of a sustainable future.

‘In a short time, Aalto University has become an internationally renowned, innovative university. Now, the university’s new strategy takes a hit at the core questions of a sustainable future – Aalto University has all the qualifications to build world-class centres of excellene as well as ecosystems that foster and encourage entrepreneurship, assuming a significant responsibility to train future experts and for continuous learning’, says Laura Juvonen.

‘We want to thank Technology Industries of Finland for this donation and their cooperation to work towards a sustainable future. The current matching funding campaign will increase the impact of the donations and we would like to invite other funds, companies in all fields, as well as individuals interested in supporting science and the arts to donate’, says Aalto University President Ilkka Niemelä.

Technology Industries of Finland, its member companies and its centennial foundation have donated a total of over 150 million euros to higher education in recent years.
