Tero Ojanperä appointed Chair of the Aalto University Board

In its meeting on 15 January 2025, the Aalto University Board elected DSc (Tech) Tero Ojanperä, founder of Rando Labs, as Chair of the Board. DSc (Tech) Marita Niemelä, Senior VP of Rejlers Finland, was elected as Vice Chair.

'Aalto University has been successful and become very international in its 15 years of operation. Education, research and innovations are increasingly important in building a sustainable future and are supported by the university's recently launched fundraising campaign. It's great to be involved in this work,' says Tero Ojanperä.

Tero Ojanperä was appointed ÄûÃʵ¼º½ University Board as of 2025. He is the founder of Rando Labs and a professional board member in several companies. He is chair of the board in Fintraffic, vice chair in Betolar and member of the board in OP Financial Group and Miltton. Additionally, he is an investor, board member and advisor in many startup companies. Tero Ojanperä is a co-founder and has served as CEO and chair of Silo AI. Between 1998 and 2011, he held several managerial positions in Nokia Corporation. He was chair of the board at Tampere University of Technology from 2012 to 2018.

Eric Malmi received his PhD from Aalto University in 2018 with a dissertation that developed AI methods for linking historical records and family trees. At Google DeepMind he has developed Gemini language models and a chess AI. He returned to his alma mater because of ELLIS Institute Finland.
