The Bachelor’s Programme in International Business turned 30 years this year

The BBA Programme offered in Mikkeli was the first English-taught bachelor's level programme in the School of Business.

The Bachelor’s Programme in International Business (BScBA Programme) celebrated its 30th anniversary this year. During 1989–2000, the intake was to the International Bachelor of Business Administration Programme (BBA Programme) and from 2001 on to the Bachelor’s Programme in International Business. Before Aalto University, the programme was part of the former Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration. The Programme was the first English-taught bachelor's level programme of the school.

The Bachelor’s Programme in Mikkeli focuses on a single major: International Business. The nature of studies is very active and intensive. Studies are divided into three-week modules, maintaining a fast pace and sharp focus. The comprehensive teaching methods as well as independent and theoretical academic work. Many business and public sector representatives, including alumni, serve as guest lecturers in the courses. In addition to that, students take field trips and complete projects for companies in various courses.

Mikkeli spirit goes strong!

Thanks to a relatively small community and intensive learning experience, the so called Mikkeli spirit is strong and lasts for a lifetime. Students in Mikkeli have their own student association Probba which is in the core of creating the spirit. Probba organises many student club activities related to culture and sports. For example, many Mikkeli alumni certainly remember BaBa’s Kitchen, an international cuisine club, or the sports club SkiBBA. Additionally, the collaboration between business students in Mikkeli and Otaniemi is active and maintains close ties with Probba, KY (Aalto University School of Business student association) and AYY (Aalto University Student Union), making sure that nowadays also the Aalto spirit stays strong in Mikkeli.
