The CEMS MIM programme is the world's fifth-best master's degree programme in management

This year, the CEMS MIM programme bagged fifth place in the Financial Times' (FT) international ranking list for master's degree programmes.

Aalto University School of Business is a member of CEMS (the Global Alliance in Management Education, previously known as the Community of European Management Schools), an alliance of the world’s leading schools of business and economics and large corporations. This year, the CEMS MIM (Master's in International Management) programme bagged fifth place in the Financial Times' (FT) international ranking list for master's degree programmes. The ranking list was published on 14 September 2014. A total of 70 Masters in Management degree programmes were included in the FT review. The University of St Gallen, HEC Paris, and Essec Business School took the top three spots in the list. CEMS climbed two places from last year's ranking.

Fantastic praise from students

According to student feedback, Aalto University's CEMS programme is on a par with the other CEMS institutes, with the School of Business even making it into the top four schools. The School of Business was also one of very few schools to exceed all of the student evaluation targets set by CEMS.

The reputation of the school has grown and Aalto University is now a very desirable exchange destination. In fact, a record number of exchange students will be welcomed at the school this autumn. The thanks for all the successes of the programme, including the fantastic rankings, go to everyone – students, teachers, partner organisations, and the CEMS organisation alike.

The CEMS MIM programme gives students a solid base for an international career

Every year, around 30 students are selected for the Aalto University CEMS programme. Students in master’s programmes in Economics and Business Administration at Aalto University's School of Business have the opportunity to complete the CEMS MIM simultaneously with their primary degree studies. The content of CEMS MIM is developed in cooperation with member universities and companies. Graduates completing both programmes receive a qualification for both the master's degree and the CEMS MIM. The CEMS programme usually lasts for one year and includes a term-long stay in another CEMS university as an exchange student, CEMS courses, language courses, a business project, and courses familiarising the students with skills required in working life.

– The CEMS MIM programme provides students with a well-rounded opportunity to learn about the international business environment. It is particularly well-suited for students aspiring to an international career. The CEMS experience continues even after graduation through involvement in the organisation's international alumni network, says the academic head of the CEMS programme, Professor of Practice Rita Järventie-Thesleff.

The CEMS community was founded in 1988 and celebrated its 25th birthday last year. Aalto University's School of Business has been a member of CEMS for 16 years. The community includes 29 member universities and 68 international corporate members.
