The World Cultural Council granted scientific awards
The World Cultural Council will present the 2014 Albert Einstein World Award of Science to Professor Sir Philip Cohen, Professor of Enzymology, and Co-Director of the Division of Signal Transduction Therapy (DSTT) at the Medical Research Council’s Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit, University of Dundee, United Kingdom.
The prize is awarded for his 40-year outstanding and continuing scientific career devoted to studying and establishing the profound importance of protein phosphorylation in regulating almost every physiological process.
The Albert Einstein World Award of Science was created as a means of recognition to those men and women who have accomplished scientific and technological achievements which have brought progress to science and ensuing benefit to mankind.
The 2014 Jose Vasconcelos World Award of Education will be granted to Professor Federico Rosei, Full Professor and Director, INRS–EMT, Université du Québec, Varennes, Canada.
The prize is awarded for his impressive career both within the Chemical Sciences and as an advocate of a global approach to developing societies through scientific knowledge and innovation, inspiring and educating people.
The 2014 José Vasconcelos World Award of Education is made every other year to a person who has stood out in the field of education, as a teacher or policy shaper, whose scope of influence has been outstanding, educating humanity towards a culture of global understanding while encouraging respect for all individuals.
Award Ceremony and Academic Summit in Aalto University 16th -20th November, 2014
This year, the 31st Award Ceremony will take place on Monday 17th November, within the framework of Aalto University Academic Summit on “The Impact of Universities on Economic Growth”, Espoo, Finland.
The Summit “The Impact of Universities on Economic Growth” will focus on how universities contribute to creating knowledge societies thereby facilitating economic development, job creation and well-being. The symposium will feature leading scientists and experts from all over the globe.
